Artist's Statement
For much of my life, I had anxiety about painting or other forms of art, always assuming I was not talented or coordinated enough to be very good at it. Painting is, therefore, something I stumbled into by way of pure inspiration. I learned a powerful lesson by watching my three sons while they colored, painted, or drew pictures. What I noticed was they had absolutely no "hesitation" when it came to expressing their ideas. Their thoughts, feelings, and ideas flowed freely and without any fear at all of whether others would judge what they had created. As adults, we lose that childlike innocence somewhere along the way. My sons were the example I needed to get over my apprehension and allow myself to create art for no other reason than that it is fun.
I am not an artist by trade, nor have I ever sought training of any kind. For me, art does not necessarily need to be something that is coached or taught in any formal way. All it takes to be willing enough to allow inspiration to guide us toward our inner muse. We all, every one of us, have the seeds of creation within us. Art is whatever we are aroused to create. My art is first and foremost for me. Unlike some artists that intend from the outset to create art for the purpose of being sold for profit, I compose art because I have a creative muscle that needs to be exercised periodically. It is a wonderful added bonus if others appreciate my work.
While I certainly appreciate a wide range of artistic styles, I am personally drawn toward Mid-Century Modern and geometric expressions. The art I create, therefore, tends to lean toward a combination in some form of these. My inspiration comes from very everyday things.

Author's Statement
I have always, for as long as I can remember, found a creative outlet with the written word. From as early as elementary school I have enjoyed writing short fictional stories. In the 6th grade I was blessed to be able to take a creative writing class as an elective. It was during that course that my confidence, interest, and exploration of writing really took off. It was during my freshman year of college that I made my first attempt to write a novel. Unfortunately, that work was lost when the desktop I had at the time crashed. It took me a few years before the inspiration returned. Once it did, though, I grabbed ahold of it, and have held on tight ever since.
My opinion of my writing is nearly identical to that of my artwork. I do not write for the purpose of pleasing others. I will be perfectly happy if I am the only person that ultimately reads my stories. Like my artwork, my written works are an extension of who I am. In the end, if some find my stories entertaining, then it is icing on the cake.
When reading for pleasure I tend to have a fairly varied set of interests ranging from fiction to non-fiction, novel's to essays. However, my literary interests when writing are almost entirely fiction based.
